Businesses are queueing up to be part of a pilot scheme allowing vaccinated travelling workers to self-isolate at home. It's part of the government's road map to relaxing border restrictions by the first quarter of next year.

Te Pirimia, Jacinda Ardern says the trial will be very limited - with strict conditions and monitoring.

The companies involved will be named and the travel must be essential to maintaining their business.

The pilot is expected to start in October. Export NZ's executive director Catherine Beard tells Lisa Owen businesses will want it to work well, so a "high degree of caution and rigour" will be exercised.
