Calls grow for free public transport for some in Wellington

There are calls for Wellington Regional Council to let students and community service card holders ride the city's buses and trains for free.

A collective of unions, churches and student groups say Wellington's poor are struggling to cope with the capital's high costs.

They say people who can't the capital's steep rents are being forced to live further away from the central city, and are more reliant on public transport. Kirsty Frame has more.
