Ex-Russell McVeagh partner guilty of sexual misconduct

From Checkpoint, 6:08 pm on 24 June 2021

A former partner in a top legal firm has been found guilty of six misconduct charges over the way he treated young female interns working at Russell McVeagh.

The Lawyers & Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal found James Desmond Gardner-Hopkins' drunken actions were 'disgraceful and dishonourable'.

The six complainants were all summer interns at the time - five of them described unwanted physical contact from Gardner-Hopkins at a 2015 party - but there was more.

Checkpoint reporter Nick Truebridge is across the findings and joins Lisa Owen with the details.
