Covid-19 outbreak in Melbourne: Victoria lockdown for 7 days

From Checkpoint, 6:07 pm on 27 May 2021

From midnight Victoria will go into lockdown for seven days as the state frantically tries to cram a lid on the rapidly growing number of Covid-19 cases.

And late this afternoon the Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins announced the pause in quarantine-free travel between New Zealand and Victoria would be extended for another seven days.

New Zealanders impacted by the news say it's disappointing, but are resigned to the fact it's the best option in the face of another risky outbreak.
