Supermarket shoppers overcharged after IT glitch

Check your receipts - a computer glitch at dozens of supermarkets yesterday meant shoppers did not get the discounts that were advertised on the shelf.

If you were shopping at a Pak n Save, New World or Four Square anywhere in the North Island on Monday, you might have been over-charged.

Supermarket company Foodstuffs said about a quarter of the week's special prices failed to register at the checkout.

Consumer CEO Jon Duffy talks to Lisa Owen.

In a statement, Foodstuffs says pricing issues, like this one, are extremely rare and it has systems and processes in place to identify them early.

It sincerely apologises to any customers affected and is encouraging them to contact the store where they shopped, so any discrepancies can be put right.
