From Checkpoint, 6:21 pm on 30 April 2021

The country's oldest masonic lodge has been all but destroyed in a fire - leaving behind just charred remains.

The iconic Kohukohu lodge, which sits on the banks of the Hokianga Harbour, was built in 1891.

Made entirely from kauri, it carries huge significance for the Northland region and heritage lovers around the country.
