Invercargill man frustrated by cellphone reception decline

From Checkpoint, 5:29 pm on 27 April 2021

Invercargill man Russel Bell has noticed over the past several weeks his previously good cellphone signal has dissolved into basically nothing.

Since February 14 Bell thinks he has been missing calls while at his office and can only get through on the phone while he is outside.

He has two cellphones and is having the same problem on both.

In a statement, telco provider Spark said: "We would like to apologise for Russell's experience and the delay on our part in rectifying the issue.

"Previous attempts to troubleshoot with the customer were unsuccessful, however we have now spoken with Russell and can confirm that he is now able to make and receive calls over 3G.

"We have arranged for a technician to visit Russell tomorrow to check if any environmental changes may be impacting coverage in the area."
