The much anticipated trans-Tasman bubble will soon be a reality - with the government announcing quarantine-free travel will begin in just under two weeks time.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the travel corridor will open at 11:59pm on April 18.
But she reiterated those travelling need to do so under the guidance of "flyer beware" and a traffic light system could see the bubble paused or suspended if there are community outbreaks.
And it isn't good news for those hoping the bubble would mean a big increase in available MIQ spots.
