A ridealong in NZ Police's new Skoda cars

From Checkpoint, 5:50 pm on 29 March 2021

The police have unveiled the newest addition to their vehicle fleet.

The Skoda Superb will slowly replace the Holdens which have patrolled our streets for many, many decades, with the full roll out happening over the next five years.

Twenty-seven new car options were put forward for consideration, and 12 were eventually tested by the police.

The Czech automaker ended up securing pole position on the police's check list.

Police deputy commissioner Jevon McSkimming took reporter Ben Strang and camera operator Dom Thomas out for a spin in the new car.
