Govt sets up independent Covid-19 advisory group

From Checkpoint, 6:13 pm on 9 March 2021

An independent advisory group has been set up to oversee what the government's calling the "continual improvement" of its Covid-19 response.

Chaired by Sir Brian Roche, the group is tasked with independently reviewing and providing advice on the public health response, the border, and MIQ.

The Covid-19 Response Minister says the group will report regularly and replace the previous ad-hoc approach to reviews and inquiries.

National says this is a very positive - but also an overdue step. Political reporter Yvette McCullough has more.
