From Checkpoint, 5:06 pm on 22 February 2021

From midnight Auckland will join the rest of Aotearoa at Covid-19 alert level 1. Auckland was plunged into a level 3 lockdown for three days, and everywhere else went to level 2, after three Covid-19 cases emerged in Papatoetoe.

There is one new community case of Covid-19 today, but Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says she's confident the situation is contained.

Cabinet has today also decided to keep in place mandatory mask wearing on public transport across the whole country.

Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins joins Lisa Owen to discuss this, and the case of the mariner who tested positive for their day 3 test but had already left the country.
