Changes needed to ensure tourism less harmful to environment - Commissioner

The gates are firmly shut to international tourists at the moment, and the government is being told to use this time wisely.

The Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment says tourism is putting the country under major pressure, and action is needed to make the industry work better for the country.

He's suggesting a departure tax, visitor limits in popular destinations, and tighter controls in conservation areas.
