Covid-19 February outbreak - latest from Papatoetoe

From Checkpoint, 5:24 pm on 16 February 2021

There are no new cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand today. At least 15,000 people were tested nationwide yesterday, but results are only back for about 5,000.

The family of three who tested positive over the weekend now have 109 close contacts - after a medical centre the father visited for non-Covid-19 related reasons was added to the places of interest.

So far 33 of those close contacts have tested negative and results are pending for the other 74.

But members of the Papatoetoe community who were lining up to be tested today are just relieved there's been no new cases.

But Papatoetoe High School Principal Vaughan Couillat, where the daughter goes to school, is waiting for more results before making a decision about re-opening the school.

Checkpoint's Louise Ternouth is at Papatoetoe High School and joins Lisa Owen with the latest details.
