Father's relief at isolation decision

From Checkpoint, 5:20 pm on 23 December 2020

On Monday, we brought you the story of a Kiwi father's desperate effort to undergo isolation his mentally unwell son, who arrived back in New Zealand from Australia on Tuesday. The man, who we're calling Steve to protect his son's identity, spent three weeks battling authorities to let him be with his son, who Australian doctors feared wouldn't cope with two weeks alone in a hotel room. Tonight, we can report Steve has been granted approval to enter a managed isolation facility with his son, in Auckland. Our reporter Nick Truebridge spoke to Steve earlier today and asked him what had changed since our story on Monday.
