Govt ministers in court over 'absurd' disability care issue

From Checkpoint, 5:45 pm on 14 December 2020

Government ministers are being taken to the Employment Court over what a claimant calls a ludicrous and absurd disability care issue.

The case is around legislation which means people with disabilities who need care are legally required to be the employers of their family caregivers.

It means in some cases people with severe mental disabilities and the mental age of a preschooler are the employers of their parents.

Jordan Bond was in the Employment Court in Auckland.
