Abuse inquiry: Crown urged to change way law helps claimants

From Checkpoint, 6:21 pm on 6 November 2020

A lawyer representing abuse survivors has called for a major change in the way the Crown Law Office deals with claimants.

Frances Joychild, QC who represents a number of abuse victims, has made submissions to the Royal Commission into Abuse in Care.

Survivors of abuse have repeatedly told the inquiry that they were re-traumatised by the Crown's no-holds-barred approach to litigation.

Andrew McRae reports.
