A Dunedin councillor has been told to apologise for aggressive and intimidating behaviour, or he'll be stripped of some of his roles.

Three Dunedin councillors complained about the behaviour of Lee Vandervis towards the deputy mayor.

A subsequent investigation upheld the complaints, but one councillor says the penalty amounts to 'a slap on the hand with a wet bus ticket'.
