Gay conversion therapy will be banned by Labour if it is re-elected to government.
The pseudoscience claims to be able to suppress or change a person's sexual orientation or gender identity and is often practised in priavte or faith-based instituations.
The so-called therapy has been widely debunked by the scientific and medical community and human rights advocates as being harmful to mental health as well as being discriminatory.
Earlier this year a UN expert called for a global ban on the bogus therapy.
Labour MP and Rainbow spokesperson Tamati Coffey anounced the party will pass a law banning conversion therapy.
He joins Lisa Owen to discuss.
