Aucklanders fleeing the city for the school holidays are being urged to be patient as they hit the road out of town, with damage to the Harbour Bridge still causing some delays.
Two of the bridge's eight lanes are out of action while repairs are done - that work is adding to the usual Friday night congestion.
There have also been two crashes on the city's motorways over the past few hours.
