SIS to review major data leak from Zhenhua dataset

New Zealand's domestic spy agency is reviewing the huge leak of data believed to be used by China's intelligence service.

The Security Intelligence Service has obtained the information relating to New Zealand that's part of the Zhenhua dataset - which contains the personal details of 2.4 million people from around the world.

Despite the concern, the SIS says at this stage, the information appears to have been collected from public sources, like social media and news reporting.
