Calls grow to end all live exports of cattle

From Checkpoint, 5:09 pm on 9 September 2020

The calls for a total ban on live exports of cattle are growing, following the capsize and sinking of a vessel in the East China Sea.

The Ministry for Primary Industries temporarily halted applications for live shipments last week after the ship, Gulf Livestock One, went down in a typhoon.

There were 43 crew, including two New Zealanders, and nearly 6,000 cattle on board. Andrew McRae reports.
