NZX cyber attacks suggest offshore organised crime - expert

From Checkpoint, 5:21 pm on 26 August 2020

A computer expert says a second cyber attack on the NZ Stock exchange in as many days suggests an organised offshore group is behind the take down of a high profile target.

The NZX went offline at 11.24am, with normal operations resuming at 3pm.

It was also offline yesterday for about an hour after a distributed denial of service attack.

Professor Dave Parry of AUT's Department of Computer Science explains exactly what that is.
