Covid-19: North vs South rugby match postponed another week

From Checkpoint, 5:15 pm on 21 August 2020

Auckland's Level 3 lockdown has put the skids on the North-South inter-island rugby match for at least another week.

The game was supposed to be played at Auckland's Eden Park on Saturday week but New Zealand Rugby made contingency plans to shift it to Wellington when Auckland went to alert level 3.

But plan B was scuppered too, when 14 Auckland-based players were denied travel exemptions because of the Covid-19 lockdown.

NZ Rugby's General Manager of Professional Rugby, Chris Lendrum, is phliosophical about the set-back as they become used to living week to week.
