The boss of Air NZ believes covid safety measures for international aircrew are strict enough and sees no reason to change them.

The Minister of Health has signalled he's aiming to release an order this week clarifying rules for air crews.

At the moment the guidelines mean only crews returning from America - that's considered to be a high risk destination - have to self isolate for 48 hours until they return a negative Covid-19 test.

And crews flying into Auckland are free to immediately travel onwards domestically to their home destination.

Air NZ's chief executive Greg Foran is adamant the protocols they have in place are working just fine.
