From Checkpoint, 5:53 pm on 4 August 2020

The disgraced former Minister Iain Lees-Galloway has returned to Parliament for the first time since his sacking to give his final farewell speech.

The Palmerston North MP was last month stripped of his Ministerial portfolios for having an affair with a staffer who worked directly with his office.

He subsequently announced he would retire at the election, ending a 12-year political career.

He told the House that two weeks ago, he wasn't preparing to give his farewell speech but is now ready and happy to go.
