In the Australian state of Victoria, Premier Daniel Andrews is holding a press conference to announce more details on level four lockdown restrictions.

There were 429 new infections overnight and 13 deaths. It follows over 1000 new infections and 20 deaths over the weekend.

Metropolitan Melbourne is now under curfew from 8pm until 5am with people only allowed to leave their homes for one hour's exercise within five kilometre of their homes every day.

In the past half hour, Daniel Andrews has just announced three tiers of sector restrictions. Supermarkets, bottle shops, pharmacies, news agencies, post offices, butchers and bakeries will all remain open during level 4 lockdown.

From midnight Wednesday, stores like Bunnings and garden centres will only be open for contact-less pick-up. Nobody will be able to go inside a store.

While building sites can keep operating, only five people will be permitted onsite at any one time.

Personal care services including hairdressers and beauty salons will close.
