A community meeting is being held in Tarras tonight to discuss a proposed airport for the small rural Otago settlement. Christchurch Airport announced last week it has bought up 750 hectares in the area, in the hopes of building two-point-two kilometre jet-capable runway.

RNZ Otago-Southland reporter Timothy Brown has been speaking to locals today ahead of the meeting and filed this report.
