Covid-19 managed isolation costs - what you need to know

New Zealanders coming home for a holiday, or those coming back from trips overseas will have to stump up for their Covid-19 managed isolation costs.

The government has announced it will only impose fees on New Zealanders who return for less than 90 days, and those who leave the country and return after regulations come into place.

The Minister in charge, Megan Woods, says the scheme strikes a balance between the government's legal obligations, and what is fair.

But New Zealand First says it is "dreadful" policy that puts naked political self-interest ahead of taxpayers.
