The government has today launched the first phase of its Progressive Home Ownership scheme.
Housing Minister Megan Woods says the dream of owning your own home has slipped away for an increasing number of New Zealand families.
"This isn't just about building houses, this is about working with people who are otherwise excluded from home ownership," Woods told Checkpoint.
