Queenstown infrastructure projects get $85m govt boost

Queenstown's struggling economy has been given a major shot in the arm, with the government coughing up $85 million to fast-track local projects.

It says the cash it coughs up will unlock a total of $300 million-worth of projects in the area - but it's not clear who will cover those costs.

At the announcement in Queenstown Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said while lots of work is being done to support the tourism industry, other job opportunities need to be created.
