An independent review of Covid-19 clusters in aged care has found some rest homes were ill prepared for the impact of Covid-19 case, let alone an outbreak.

The Ministry of Health review, released today, examines 12 facilities including five known to have had clusters.

It confirms three clusters began after staff or visitors brought infections to the facilities, that there was inadequate protective equipment, and that staff at centres with outbreaks suffered "considerable stress".
