Controversy is growing among some school communities after reports of staff tearing down Black Lives Matter posters.

Students from Auckland's Marist College and Christchurch's St Andrew's College have complained about staff removing posters promoting the movement.

On Wednesday afternoon, another school was under fire from students. Christchurch Girls' High School students say their posters were also removed by a staff member - who then told them that all lives matter.

The alleged actions of the schools have been heavily criticised by a leading sociologist.
