Consumer urges law changes be fast-tracked for Air NZ refunds

From Checkpoint, 6:25 pm on 9 June 2020

Consumer NZ says it wants law changes fast-tracked because Air New Zealand is dragging its heels over giving passengers refunds for cancelled flights.

Consumer NZ met with Air New Zealand to discuss the airline only providing credits for flights cancelled due to Covid-19, but says Air New Zealand is sticking to its guns, only giving refunds if required to by law.

It comes after its chief executive Greg Foran told Checkpoint on Friday the company would go to the wall and even more redundancies were likely if it had to refund everyone who had a cancelled trip with the airline.

Bridger Burke spoke to Consumer NZ boss Jon Duffy.
