An extra 40,000 struggling businesses will be able to access the next round of the wage subsidy scheme following a drop in eligibility requirements.
The current wage subsidy scheme runs out on Monday, having paid out nearly $11 billion to cover 1.6 million jobs.
A new round of payments will be made available next week, with 230 thousand businesses forecast to take up the offer.
