The president of the police association says the death of a man in custody in Hawera is not the result of physical force by officers.
Three police officers - who have name suppression - have been charged with manslaughter.
The officers allegedly failed to provide necessary medical care to the 55-year-old.
But the President of the Police Association, Chris Cahill, told Checkpoint he has been made aware that no force or violence was used by the officers.
