Under lockdown, NZ population became 5 million

As the country threw itself into lockdown in the fight against Covid-19, our population quietly passed five million people. Figures released by Stats NZ show New Zealand's population passed the milestone in March.

It is the fastest million in history - taking just 17 years to grow from a population of four million people in 2003. Anneke Smith reports.
