Dunedin city goes pedestrian friendly to attract visitors

The Dunedin City Council has voted through a controversial suite of measures designed to entice people back to the central city after the Covid-19 lockdown. The speed limit of the city's main street is to be slashed from 30km/h to 10km/h - a measure panned by business and motorist's advocacy groups. The council has also agreed to give pedestrians priority over vehicles, provide free parking and allow businesses to use footpaths for free. RNZ Otago-Southland reporter, Timothy Brown, followed the meeting via Zoom and has more.
