Parliament, politics back in action under lockdown level 3

From Checkpoint, 6:08 pm on 28 April 2020

The National Party leader has dismissed any questions over his leadership saying it's a distraction when the country should be focusing on how to rebuild the economy.

Agitation over Simon Bridges' leadership was reignited last week with many MPs unhappy about the tone of his response to the news the lockdown would be extended until Tuesday.

MPs held a brief phone conference in lieu of the regular caucus meeting this morning - Mr Bridges says no-one raised his leadership, or any concerns about how he's been fronting National's response.

Parliament resumed on Tuesday in a limited fashion, with the plight of small businesses front and centre.
