Auckland could face water restrictions not seen since the 1994 drought if water use doesn't drop - and fast.
WaterCare says storage lake levels have now dropped to 48 percent - under the halfway mark for the first time in 25 years.
Mandatory restrictions will be on the cards if levels keep dropping with no rain in sight for the next few weeks.
