Food rescue charity struggling without volunteers under lockdown

From Checkpoint, 5:52 pm on 21 April 2020

A food rescue charity has been forced to ask for charity itself to save good quality food from going to waste during the lockdown.

Fairfood collects food from organisations that would otherwise go to landfill and distributes it to the needy.

But whilst it is classified as an essential service, without volunteers it is struggling to get the food to where it is most needed.

As Ellie Jay reports, the organisation isn't entitled to the government's wage subsidy.
