Staying home seems to be working. In the past 24 hours more people have recovered from Covid-19 than have caught it, it is the first time that has happened since New Zealand went into lockdown.

The number of coronavirus cases jumped by 29 on Thursday - the fourth day in a row there has been a day-on-day drop.

The Prime Minister has announced from midnight Thursday everyone arriving from overseas will be quarantined for 14 days.

And for the first time, there was some light at the end of the lockdown tunnel with news Cabinet ministers will decide on April 20 whether the country will drop from Alert Level 4 to Alert Level 3.

Lisa Owen spoke with the Prime Minister a few minutes ago and asked her if the decline in cases was a cause for celebration.
