The Health Minister David Clark will keep his job for now after breaching the lockdown rules - but the Prime Minister says if it had been any other time he would have been sacked.
Clark has admitted acting like an idiot, saying he "let the team down" after driving his family 20 kilometres to a beach for a walk on the first weekend of the lockdown.
He had already apologised for driving a few kilometres in his branded electorate van to a mountain bike track in Dunedin.
Meanwhile, there were another 54 confirmed or probable cases confirmed on Tuesday - the lowest number since exactly two weeks ago when 50 were recorded.
And more people have now recovered from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours than have tested positive.
RNZ political editor Jane Patterson has the details.
