From Checkpoint, 5:07 pm on 3 April 2020

A little more than a week into the lockdown and the Health Minister has had to apologise to the Prime Minister for not following the rules after his van was seen parked at a mountain biking trail, breaching lockdown rules.

Jacinda Ardern says he failed to lead by example, going against the repeated pleas to the public to avoid exercise where there is a higher risk of injury.

On Friday 71 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed, bringing the total to 868. Thirteen people are in hospital, with one in ICU in a stable condition.

More support was announced for businesses, with plans to change legislation to give company directors facing insolvency a safe harbour.
