Covid-19 lockdown: Ardern warns supermarkets over high prices

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has put supermarkets on notice, launching a website for New Zealanders to raise concerns about rising food prices.

She says while there has been no evidence of price gouging, it would not be acceptable during the lockdown where supermarkets are really the only place to buy essentials.

Ardern says any businesses flouting the rules would be breaching the Fair Trading Act.

She added a decision on Easter Trading and whether supermarkets could remain open on Good Friday would be announced on Tuesday.
