Day two of the lockdown has gone by smoothly, with most New Zealanders doing the right thing, and staying home.

As predicted, the number of cases has continued to rise, with 85 new cases, bringing the total to 368.

Eight people are in hospital, with two in a less stable condition - one of which is in intensive care.

On Friday the Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield and the Prime Minister sought to assure essential workers on the front line, that there is and will continue to be enough personal protective equipment.

Changes were made to the wage subsidy scheme, to help ensure more people can keep their jobs though the national lockdown.
