Care workers say a lack of communication from their employers is stoking fear among their patients that they will catch Covid-19 from their support workers.
One carer RNZ spoke to says she still has no personal protective gear, despite requesting it from her employer.
And both clients and carers say that the situation is making them reconsider whether they should still be having contact.
