Covid-19: Warriors stay in Australia to complete NRL season

The New Zealand Warriors are defying the odds and will continue to play in the NRL Premiership for as long as the rugby league competition continues this season.

Warriors chief executive Cameron George announced the club's position today and says the players demonstrated exceptional commitment to both the club and fans.

It means the players will remain in Australia and away from their families for an undefined length of time.

George says now is a time for the club to be leaders in the rugby league community.

The NRL will be played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus and the Warriors will play all home games in Australia this season, including Saturday night's game against the Canberra Raiders on the Gold Coast.
