From Checkpoint, 5:10 pm on 20 March 2020

New Zealanders are being warned to be kind and remain calm after panic buying yesterday left supermarket shelves across the country empty.

Supermarket owners say they have plenty of stock to go round but can't replenish shelves or resume home deliveries if people continue to do more than their normal weekly shop.

It comes as the Director General of Health, Dr Ashley Bloomfield revealed more cases of Covid-19 today, all linked to travel and now in self-isolation.
