The government has unveiled the beginnings of a business rescue package which will include a wage subsidy scheme for those affected by the economic downturn brought by Covid-19.

Treasury has also been asked to work on tax relief options.

The Prime Minister has also announced the government's fast-tracking powers for medical officers of health to quarantine ships, aircraft and their passengers if necessary.

It comes as 2000 people remain in self-isolation with the number of confirmed corona virus cases at five.

Finance Minister Grant Robertson told media that whilst one bank is predicting a recession is probable, that is not the advice he has.
