Biden, Sanders close race in US Democratic primaries

In the US it is Super Tuesday in the Democratic presidential primary. Fourteen states have been voting for their preferred candidate to take on President Donald Trump in November's election.

Joe Biden has had nine states called for him, while Bernie Sanders has scooped four, with others too close to call.

But exit polls are showing Bernie Sanders has won the big one - California.

Joe Biden's biggest and potentially most surprising win has been in Minnesota - a state Bernie Sanders won decisively in 2016.

Joe Biden's main competitor, Bernie Sanders was the clear front-runner a few days ago, but the sting was taken out of his tail after Joe Biden's big win in South Carolina and the endorsements from moderates who dropped out, and got behind him.

Despite that, Mr Sanders is claiming victory.
